Adelaide man has died after being assaulted by two men in Modbury

A man has died after he was allegedly brutally assaulted by two men on pushbikes.

Emergency services were called to Victoria Dr in the suburb of Modbury in Adelaide’s north east just after 3pm on Thursday following reports of an attack.

A 62-year-old man was found with critical head injuries and was taken to the Royal Adelaide Hospital.

The Modbury resident died on Friday afternoon.

Police launched an investigation into the incident, declaring it was “not a random attack”.

Officers arrested a 32-year-old man just after 5pm on Friday.

The man was charged with aggravated assault causing serious harm which is now expected to be upgraded to a more serious charge such as murder or manslaughter.

The Modbury North resident appeared in Adelaide Magistrates Court on Friday and was refused bail.

Police are still searching for a second man who they suspect may be able to assist their enquiries.

The man is described as being of Aboriginal appearance with a slim build and wearing a white singlet, dark coloured shorts, and a white baseball cap.

While police are following “positive lines of enquiry” in relation to the second suspect, they are calling on anyone who may have dashcam footage or who may have seen the two men.

Both were riding pushbikes and between 2.45pm and 3.30pm on Thursday and travelled southwest along North East Road and south on Reservoir Rd.

The pair may have been sighted on Victoria Dr, Montacute Rd, and McIntyre Rd.
